Jim
Papandrea has been taking pictures of his travels for over 20 years. He
specializes in photographs of the architectural achievements of ancient
Rome, with computer enhancements. Jim has a Ph.D. in the history of the
Roman Empire, and has studied at the American Academy in Rome. The
photographs currently on display are from one of his many trips to Rome.
In addition to photography, Jim is also a published songwriter and musician.
His band, Remember Rome, has a new CD for 2004 called CARPE DIEM; with Jim
wearing the hats of songwriter, lead singer, guitarist, photographer and
graphic designer. Jim's fascination with Roman culture stems from what he
observes as "the paradox of Roman life" - passion without urgency, a
peaceful intensity.
Ever since his first trip to Rome as a teenager, he never
tires of filling the lens with the remnants of the ancient city that was the
cradle of western civilization. Looking into a Papandrea photograph is like
going back in time...
